Challenge

"Shopping for jeans and other form-fitting apparel online could be time-consuming and frustrating. It's hard to compare between different styles, and it's hard to know for sure how they will fit.

It's a disappointing experience when you have to return an item that doesn't fit quite right. How can you help customers select the style of jeans that they’re looking for in the right size?"

Design Process

First off we started with a little brainstorm session, writing down the problems that occur through not-fitting clothing or could occur for the customer, the store and the others.

We realized very quickly that besides the unsatisfaction and stress on the customers' side there are also some other problems such as increased service costs for the retoure service, if the customer decides to send it back, because the clothes do not fit. These service costs contain shipping costs, storage updates, repacking etc.
Another issue we encountered was that this whole process is, besides being extremely stressful, unsatisfying and increasing service costs, also not environmentally friendly; especially the shipping procedure produces loads of CO2.

Overview (Challenge / Solutions / Problems)

A solution we wanted to focus on, was some kind of algorithm that recommends the right size based on values such as height, shape of belly, age, weight and recent purchases (if available). This algorithm learns by feedback surveys that customers get after each purchase and tell how satisfied they were with the fit of the clothing. Furthermore the customer can be asked, when they add something to their cart, for the specific data. This data will be put into the algorithm, so that the algorithm can learn and create better results for other (potential) customers.

User Flow & Wireframing

We started creating flowcharts to visualize the logic beforehand. There were a few scenarios in which the store either had to ask for data or offers the help of the assistant.
