ADOBE XD IS OUT! Well, it’s able to download since March last year, but now it has been also released on Windows, which is (especially for me as a Windows User) such a great message, so I decided to write an article about it and tell you a few reasons, why you probably will fall in love with that program.
1. Simple and Familiar Interface
If you’re a Sketch User you will feel right at home in XD. The simplicity of the interface was awfully familiar. It is so easy to create perfect artboards for your project.
2. Prototyping & Animations
The tool has a Design Mode and a Prototype Mode. Prototype mode makes it so easy to connect different screens, hook up navigation from clicking an element to any other screens. This makes it so easy to build clickable prototypes with animations and transitions from one screen to another.
3. Windows Support!
Adobe released a Windows version which made me as a designer very excited. The competitor Sketch is currently only available on Macs so this was a very smart move by Adobe.
The Windows version is currently just a Beta Build version, so there are not all the same features as on the Mac version, but they will be added in the future. (Upcoming features for Windows: Layers manager, Linear Gradients, More animations, UI Kits, TouchPen Support)
4. Easy Sharing of Prototypes & Designs
The ease of sharing a prototype with other users was a very welcome surprise. One click and the tool generates a link you can easily share with users and stakeholders to preview your design. You can also manage these links to prevent other users from accessing it. Furthermore you can check your project out on your smartphone by using an USB cable, which will be connect to your phone and your PC/Mac.
I hope you enjoyed the article about my new love. I’ll be blogging and sharing more tips, tricks and resources on Adobe XD in the next time.
